My name is Caitlin and I was in Ireland with Sam during his semester there 2 years ago, and we got to know each other well. I can't even tell you how sorry I am for your family's loss. I just found out inadvertenly from this blog -- and I'm just completely shocked and saddened right now. A current student from Pitzer e-mailed me this morning to learn more about the Ireland program, and he said the only other Pitzer student who attended the SIT Ireland program had passed away ... I didn't know what to do so I looked around the Internet for any clue about whether it was Sam and I just now came upon your blog, and put the pieces together. I don't know if any of the other students from our Ireland group know what happened, and I know they'd want to, since most of us grew quite close during our months there. If you could please contact me (caitlinrconnelly@yahoo.com) I'd really appreciate it. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, I'd uderstand, because I feel terribly uncomfortable leaving a message like this. I hadn't heard from Sam in a number of months, so I don't even know when he passed away ... last time I heard from him, he was doing better. Again I'm so sorry to do this. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and with Sam. Blessings, Caitlin.
