whales, smooth rocks & brothers...
the other day i needed some time to meditate. who don't. so i drove out to to check out the dope solscape eco-hostel outside of raglan. i ran into the owner who i play futbol with on sundays for the local team. we chatted for quite some time about kiwis against seabed mining. it's complex, but the west coast beaches of new zealand have black sand. mad iron ore and other precious metals are present and after the crown basically ruled for the state and didn't give rights to maori communities, they immediately let big corporations come on in for seabed mining. dredging mad sand and somehow extract raw metals. in the process deading the floor of the ocean, the oxygen levels, sea-life, you name it...
i made my way a touch further out the coast to finally check out whale bay, the world famous surf break outside of raglan. there were no waves that day, so i was the only one there. i walk round and took a few snaps. then on my way home went and sat on a bench up high & over looking the tasman sea...
finally, these two cute little brothers were cold chillin' all day today listening to my radio show. they got their break dancing on and believe it or not, were popping and locking a touch too! that's what happens when they let the dawgs out down here in new zealand...
some more goodness to make tacos with, to rock early morning aloo parathas too, & of course, blueberry pancakes and sum maple syrups...
