junction jive
i woke up relatively early this morning to embark on a bike ride to the toronto neighborhood of the junction. initially, to find some urban walls for my amazing great love the mustt kalandar to concoct dreams of indian orchards in this concrete canadian jungle. it was brilliant and my friendly neighbor daniel, the supernatural bc, was my partner in early morning cafe drinking.
a nice surprise, i passed pascal's bagels and baguettes on my way back home. the shoppe wasn't open at 8 am when we made our first pass and i thought, great scott, a bagel spot not open at 8 am on a dimanche. what kind of bagel place could this be. in my mind and out loud i scoffed to the supernatural bc, no way they make their own bagels.
at 9:13 am however i went inside and found the proprietor pascal. there was a pile of dank looking small bagels beside the cash register.
do you make your bagels here? i asked.
in a thick accent my man pascal looked at me in disgust, you touch them, you know, he said.
oh, i replied, they must be warm then.
turns out they do make damn tasty bagels at pascal's, fresh and straight out the oven.
where did you learn to make these? i asked pascal.
mon reah all, pascal replied.
sometimes i just love this country.
usa vs. canada for the gold medal in ice hockey today. not a car will be driving the on these city roads.
love and health to all...
