courts, pitches and b-balling...

years ago hiking beside the indian ocean, i passed the most beautiful futbol pitches overlooking the sea. it made me think of neville colman, a good friend and a doctor who had emigrated from south africa and with hard work and dedication offered young new yorkers the opportunity to play soccer beside the hudson river.

so here i am, sitting on an amtrak train on my way down from the state of vermont, the rails beside the hudson too, a beautiful journey.  and it made me want to post this photo. not a full court. maybe not even a half of one, but a splendid place to shoot some hoops and practice some basketball next to the pacific ocean, california just over the equator, the crest of the earth's bountiful belly.
