scenes from a book party.
my circumnavigation of the globe is coming to a close and this afternoon i begin my almost 24 hour journey back to aotearoa.
it's spring here and autumn there and in between i stopped in india for a shaadi, tons of piaj and most importantly, pyar. time zones have seemed to fuse together like the cafe fine blends of coffee and tea that have kept me awake on this spinning earth.
last night was an especial way to end my worldwide journey, my father, allan lenzner, had a book party for his recently self published book, The Firing of Stephen Ledberg.
which... can be purchased online here!
my poppa has worked on this book for many a decades off and on and i read an early version of the manuscript almost 11 years ago when i first went to india and then went to in fact, new zealand. so this trip is crazy in a way, in that 11 years ago i left the states as a young dun with this book in my bag, heading east. and now today, 11 years later and many life changes after, i'm heading west with this book published, after basically doing a the same trip i did 11 years ago, stops in hong kong, delhi, nyc, auckland... it's crazy shit, if i may say so, the way the world spins, and i don't believe it's getting less crazy.
a thunderstorm brews over nyc this afternoon and from what i read online, a tropical storm brews in the south pacific and may hit neuva zealandia next week. shit, excuse mi lingua, but damns, departing nyc is bittersweet siempre. what tributaries lie ahead? never know, b-sides, your guess is as good as mines.
the book party at the century club was amazing and though i had intended to take millions of snaps, there were too many good fams and friends and subsequently, in between selling the book and rapping and rhyming with pas and mas and cuzs and old friends and neighbors... i only took a few. no time for photos in between chatting with a many...
so alas, prior to my journey wester than west and souther than south, a few scenes from a big apple book party.
love and health to all...
